Ritchey Continues Celebrations with 50th Anniversary Outback Gravel Frameset

Sep 28, 2023

In continued celebration of its 50 Year Anniversary, Ritchey Logic has released a limited edition run of the Ritchey Outback draped in a classy Half Moon Blue colorway. Updated to its 2nd generation in 2020, the Outback is first and foremost a gravel bike boasting clearance for high volume tires, but with the addition of mounts for racks, fenders, Anything Cages, as well as mounts for a 3rd water bottle, this modern steel frame is a worthy companion for long-haul bikepacking missions.

While the Ritchey Outback retails at $1599 / 1599€ in its original Guac y Crema colorway, the limited edition Half Moon Blue Outback announced today will set you back a little more at $1699 / 1699€ (the same price as the limited edition Sunset Fade). It follows Ritchey's other celebratory limited edition framesets including the 50th Anniversary Swiss Cross in Ritchey Red and the 50th Anniversary Logic Road Bike in Pacific Azul.

In addition to the colorway, the 50th Anniversary Ritchey Outback also sees special Ritchey logos that reference the company's history and the influence that Palo Alto, California has had on builder, Tom.

The V2 is designed to take both 650b and 700c wheels, the former leaving clearance for 2.0″ tires, and the latter leaving clearance for 48mm tires. The Ritchey Carbon Adventure Fork, complete with multipurpose rack and fender mounts offers 60mm spacing for a high volume tire.

The TIG welded triple-butted steel frame is available in sizes XS-XL, and weighs a claimed 2,175g in a size L (w/o thru-axle). The frame runs a 68mm threaded BB, a Ritchey WCS IS42/28.6 upper and IS42/30 lower headset which is included, and the aforementioned fork features an integrated 45 degree crown race to meet it.

Loading the Outback up as a bikepacking companion will be made easy with three sets of bottle bosses, rack and fender mounts, and that fork has a maximum payload of 3 kg per side.

The Outback sees a 453mm chainstay length across its XS-XL size range, with reach figures spanning a 373mm to 395mm range. See the complete geometry chart below.
