By Kristi Kellogg

If you’re used to the tradition of a live tree, embracing an artificial one can be a big step, but we think you’ll be impressed with best artificial Christmas trees on the market…and once you go faux, you may never go back. Think about: no pine needles littering the ground, no sap clinging to your hands, no battle to get the tree into the stand, and no water sloshing about once you finally get the whole thing set up (that is, if you even remember to water it).

Ahead, discover full, lush Christmas trees that will trick even the most discerning eye, as well as fun, festive updates with pops of color and other surprises. We’re here for all of it!

Terrain's design team modeled this cutie after a real specimen in the woods, so you know it's going to look more natural than any other artificial Christmas tree. Call them spindly, twiggy, or even occasionally scraggly—but we think some of the most charming artificial Christmas trees are these nearly bare Silvertip fir beauties.

Faux Silvertip Fir : Starting at $348, sold by Terrain

The Fraser Fir is native to the Appalachian Mountains. It's one of the most popular Christmas tree picks, and this particular fake rendering of it isn't called "The World's Best" for nothing. The tree's branches are molded to replicate the exact growth patterns, cascading branches, and fine, soft green needles of a freshly cut Fraser fir. It apparently has more branch tips than any other faux tree, and the white lights will last a whopping 25,000 hours.

Terrain also has an assortment of artificial trees that are all strikingly natural, and this pre-lit, flocked Christmas tree is no exception. It stands at seven feet tall and is exceptionally full, with more than 4,200 tips throughout. The tree is inspired by Europe's native Norway spruces, which are lush, elegant affairs that lend sophistication to your holiday decor.

This tip is genius: Bolster the PVC branches with small sprigs of real evergreen before you decorate. Green floral wire is your friend here. Starting closer to the trunk of your artificial tree, adjoin a small, real sprig to a fake branch with a few twists of wire. Repeat as often as you’d like, scattering the pieces consistently around your tree. You’ll get that amazing smell of the season with a fraction of the needles. Visit your local nursery for scrap evergreen or find options on Etsy.
