MANILA: The next-generation Ford Territory earned a five-star rating from the Chinese New Car Assessment Program (C-NCAP).
The next-gen Territory received a total score of 86.8% out of 100 after undergoing various tests in three categories: Occupant Protection, Pedestrian Protection, and Active Safety.
In the full frontal collision test under the Occupant Protection category, the Ford Territory got 19.384 points out of the highest score of 24 points. The head, neck, and chest of the crash test dummies inside the vehicle were properly protected, but C-NCAP also noted that there was some impact on the dummies' thighs.
In the overlap crash test, the Ford Territory scored 20.753 out of 24. This test simulates a collision between two vehicles, with the impact point set to direct more force on the chassis. In this case, the sensors on the dummies did not detect any harmful impact.
In the side collision impact test, the Ford Territory received a score of 19.960 out of 20. It is quite impressive given that there is comparatively less protection against side impacts — only side and curtain airbags and door impact beams.
In the Pedestrian Protection and Active Safety categories, the Ford Territory received a cumulative score of 10.898 out of 15.
Among the driver-assist technologies of the Ford Territory are Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Auto High Beam, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Brake with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Aid, and Collision Mitigation System.
The next-generation Ford Territory made its Philippine debut at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show held last month. The Ford Territory is powered by an EcoBoost 1.5-liter engine that produces 160ps and 248Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission with a wet-type dual-clutch engagement system.
The next-generation Ford Territory comes in two variants: the Titanium priced at P1.335 million and the Titanium X priced at P1.599 million.
Every purchase of the next-gen Ford Territory comes with a five-year or 150,000km warranty.
