Shelby’s F

May 19, 2023

You'll have to be a diehard Shelby fan to appreciate the F-150 Centennial Edition as it starts at $129,495 and only has 400 hp in base form

Shelby American is celebrating Carroll Shelby's 100th birthday with a Centennial Edition F-150.

Based on the 2023 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew, the truck gets an aggressive makeover as it has been equipped with a ram air hood and a "Shelby" branded grille. The model also features additional body color components, special front fender vents, and Centennial Edition badging.

They’re joined by full-length body stripes, power side steps with integrated lights, and a tonneau cover. Buyers will also find 22-inch wheels wrapped in BFG KO2 all-terrain tires.

Shelby didn't release many interior pictures, but the truck has billet pedals and leather seats with Centennial Edition logos. They’re joined by red accent lighting, a center console badge, a numbered dash plaque, and Shelby floor mats.

On the performance front, there are an assortment of upgrades including new pads and rotors and a Borla performance exhaust. However, the big news is the revamped suspension which features a "BDS lift system" and FOX 2.5 shocks with internal bypass technology.

Motivation is provided by a familiar 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces 400 hp (298 kW / 406 PS). It's connected to a ten-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to a standard four-wheel drive system.

If the stock powertrain doesn't excite your tingly bits, you can get a supercharger upgrade that increases the output to 800 hp (597 kW / 811 PS). Besides the supercharger itself, the package includes a performance intake, a high flow air filter, and an oversized carbon fiber air intake tube. Buyers will also find an aluminum heat exchanger, a billet throttle body, and high flow fuel injectors.

100 trucks will be built for the US market and pricing starts at $129,495 although upgrading to the supercharged variant is a no-brainer as it retails for $138,495. Those prices include the cost of the truck and the model is available to order through select Ford dealers. That being said, the truck is a tough sell considering the F-150 Raptor starts at $76,775
